Arte de Muerte Show

I have always enjoyed selling my handmade items at a good arts and crafts show. There is just something about setting up your table display and being able to meet potential customers face to face and be there to represent yourself in person. I love getting dressed up and being a part of the event~*~This past weekend was no exception~i participated in an event called Arte de Muerte Expo in Albuquerque, NM. I had attended the November show while in Alb. and while there, i just knew i wanted to be a part of it.

When i found out about the April show, i was ecstatic. This event marked the 4th of 4 events per year in it's inaugural year as an expo.
When one walked into the event center, they were probably first in awe of all the colors and festive vibe. The vendors there ranged from the most basic muerte inspired craft to the most beautiful, elaborate sculptures, to artisans who take activities from everyday life and draw them out into quite eye catching pictures of calaveras, or skeletons in action. Every artist there was genuinely happy to be there and be a part of a show that not only let us sell our "death inspired" art, but actually showcased it. i have been fascinated and inspired by the Mexican Celebration of Los Dias de los Muertes for many years and have done other events where i may have not just been around some folks who didn't understand my art, but were down right offended by it. I felt right at home at this show. These were my peeps, so to speak. The gentleman who put this show together does a really kick ass job and his partner, there with his SW ghost story books ad just the right touch of Macabre~*~The next Arte de Muerte Expo will be held July 11th and 12th~*~i can't wait~*~*~
